Day 26 Something that means a lot to you

This is a photograph of two photos. It means the world to me as it's my two sons. The photo on the right is my son Adam who is 24 and happily married ( I now have a wonderful daughter in law). The photo on the left is my son Matthew who would have been 25 but who died when he was 8 weeks old. We have wonderful memories but it's taken almost all of the 25 years to learn to live with losing him. This week's cuddles with Oliver (been again this morning - he is just adorable) have been special.
A friend sent me a card which said 'A special baby lent not given to bud on earth and bloom in heaven' - I know now that's true.
Somethings do mean the world and these two photos certainly do.

Day 25 Something new

My new great nephew (who arrived on Wednesday) I went to see him yesterday and he's gorgeous! This is his Dad (my nephew Tom) who is as proud as can be - so exciting to see someone so young and already so loved and so important x

Day 24 A book you are reading

Reading is, as with all teachers I guess, a paaion. I always have several books on the go at once, some educational, some read in the bathable! here is my current list.
Rod Stewart's autobiography - Christmas present - I love Rod Stewart!
Not quite what I was planning - six word obituaries - seeSWOP - Six word sone photo blog
Bounce Matthew Syed
The Burning House - Photography - what would you take if you had to leave quickly
Memo - random Journal
Fantastic plastic cameras (bargin at TK Max)
A soup for every day - bit random but I thought I'd try making soup - unfortunately I haven't even heard of some of the ingredients - just what is 'Salsify' when it's at home??

I am currently writing a book about using photography in the classroom and am so grateful to all those of you who are letting me try things out on you and your classes x

Day 23

Today is meant to be a souvenir from a vacation - well if anyone is interested its at the bottom of the page. BUT today has been exciting as my great nephew arrived!
Welcome Oliver Tom, I can't wait for a cuddle xx

I've also got a copy of Photography Monthly and I have a full page in there.

so if you are still reading...
this is a necklace from Matera in Italy - it is built into the hill side and all of the houses and hotels are in
caves ( the land of the Sassi) the photo bottom left is Tony in part of our hotel bedroom.

So there you go 23.01.13 - an eventful day xx

Day 22 Something you are borrowing from someone

As I'm not really borrowing anything at the moment I have uplaoded a photo of Mark aka Mr @elaronndy who has been decorating my photography studio. It looks amazing! I've chosen really bold papers as backdrops and even though they don't go together I have 2 different scenes to do childrens' portraits - having a change form high key white backgrounds.
Thanks for being such a good sport Mark x

Day 21 Something sweet

Today was a 'snow day' and although I was meant to be working from home anyway, my routine was out of the window due to everyone being off work. this is 'Summer' who lives next door and is basically the sweetest natured child I think I have ever met. She giggles, smiles is patient..all down to the amount of time and attention she gets from her parents who adore her but insist on what I would call proper family values. Its wonderful to see. At one point this morning there were several adults building a snowman whilst she sat on her sledge and watched and giggled.
The photo below shows her as she really is :)

Day 20 Someone that you love

Today's photo could have been one of a number of people. I am fortunate that I am surrounded by a loving (if at times, challenging) family and a number of really supportive friends. I have had a chequered history - some real low points and some amazing highs but today could really only be Tony my hubby!
We met when we were 11& he frequently tells people I 'dumped him' when we were 16. To cut a very long story short - we married in Dec 2009 (third time for both of us - don't ask!!) in Whitby, in the snow with just 2 close friends and their daughter as witnesses.
He is so supportive, not to mention the fact that he cooks, cleans and irons (and doesn't like chocolate so I have to eat it all). In all seriousness he gave me back my confidence and feeling of self worth and I love him to bits even if he is a 'folk fanatic' and drags me to concerts frequently xx
PS If my great niece of nephew hurries up he/she can be day 25 or day26
