Day 75 Flower

I am well within my comfort zone today. I have thousands of photos of flowers! These are three shots of the same flower - it's a Scabius but as the seed pod rather than the flower. I'd never seen this before - it only cost me 50p!

Been playing with smoke photos with @elaronndy this afternoon

Day 74 Keys

Today's prompt is keys.
These are a large, rusty bunch which are just props. Overlaid with texture layers.

I have however, been 'playing' today and using apps to make abstract art  - lots of examples here

- but this is one from a tiny bunch of keys about 2 cms in height .

Day 73 Silhouette

Working from home today so early upload. Editing images, writing - huge list of things to do!
This is my favourite silhouette, it was taken on the Isle of Harris in the Outer Hebrides at about 10pm, the figure is my husband, Tony. We love this place and are fortunate enough to be returning this summer - can't wait!

Day 72 - Jewellery

This is a photograph of my maternal grandmother and her engagement ring which is now mine. She used to wear it with an old plaster wrapped around it to make it fit and it was black, dull and very unispiring! I thought it was just costume jewellery (they never had much money) and so when I lost my engagement ring I asked my parents if I could wear it. My parents were happy for me to have it - I took it to be cleaned and resized - was amazed when the jeweller put a value of £600 - £700 just for insurance purposes! Apparantly is an antique design that isn't made any more, it's platinum and the chips of glass are actually diamonds!! I did take it straight back to my parents but they insisted I keep it!

She was what we would now call a 'formidable woman' who didn't stand for any nonsense, spoke her mind very freely and woe betide anyone who crossed her! She was in service when younger and never learnt to read but was a very strong woman.

Day 71 - Street Light

I know that the concept of 'streetlight' was maybe a low lit situation, very atmospheric BUT this particular street light has caused no end of chaos!! I live in a small area of Barnsley in a fairly new house. We have been here for over three years and the road has always been uneven and unadopted. After a lot of pressure from one of my organised neighbours the builders dug up the road - didn't fix it just made huge holes and raised the manhole covers. Then for six months nothing! Apparantly nothing else could be done until the council gave us an extra street light - cue six more months of chaos - here it is the offending street lamp - still no proper road service but ....maybe in another six months :) x
