Day 236 ...and Relax

Yesterday I was wearing my other hat - that of wedding photographer. If anyone thinks it's a glamorous and easy way to earn a living ...let me explain!
First of all you have several meetings with your 'client' to find out exactly what they want, then you spend hours the day before making sure batteries are charged, cards formatted, bags packed.
The wedding is at 2pm so 10.30 you are off to meet the bride getting ready.
If you are lucky the bride is calm and organised. yesterday was a lovely atmosphere, lots of people, enjoying themselves. This helps but you also have to be careful to be unobtrusive whilst still getting all the shots that the bride wants.

Yesterday had 5 bridesmaids of various ages - 2 of which were teachers - job sorted!! They know how to organise and have a good time :)

All need to have hair, make up and get dressed. They have to then get the bride ready - all of which needs recording. In between all of this you have to remember to take the 'detail' photos, shoes, flowers. garter....

Yesterday was good as the bride was happy for me to 'play' - sometimes you have to stick to 'traditional' which can be hard but wasn't an issue yesterday.

This canvas of Audrey Hepburn was on the wall and crying out to be used. Did make me giggle when the bride's mum said on seeing this photo - I've got that poster on my stairs! (not sure where she thought I'd been taking photos all morning :) )

You then have to remember, the car, the arrival, the table settings, the service - most of the shots here you only get one chance - miss the first kiss and that's it - opportunity gone you can't recreate it! Confetti shot needs organising as there is always someone who wants to start throwing confetti immediately! Children (especially if they are the children of the bride and groom need to be captured looking natural - not easy - especially if one of them just keeps saying 'no photos' and running away whenever you appear.)

So over 1,000 shots and ten hours later - you finally make it to the first dance!

so there you have it - you can then go home, have a large glass of wine ...and relax......
until the day after when the huge task of editing begins!!
